Major Incidents And Effects Of Poor Air Quality

Effects Of Poor Air Quality 2.2 million children in Delhi have irreversible lung damage due to the poor quality of the air. In addition, research shows that pollution can lower children’s  intelligence quotient  and increase the risks of  autism ,  epilepsy ,  diabetes  and even adult-onset diseases like  multiple sclerosis . Poor air quality is a cause of reduced lung capacity, headaches, sore throats, coughs, fatigue, lung cancer, and early death. Major Incidents Of Poor Air Quality In December 2017 during  a test match  between  Sri Lankan  and  Indian  cricket teams in New Delhi, Sri Lanka players began to feel breathing problems and several players vomited both in the rest rooms and in the field and had to use face masks until the match was stopped. [18]  However Indian side was unsympathetic to the Sri Lankan team, Hindi commentators joked on air that Sri Lankan players were using masks to hide ...

Causes Of Poor Air Quality

Motor vehicle emissions  are one of the causes of poor air quality. According to some reports, 80 per cent of PM 2.5  air pollution is caused by vehicular traffic, though other reports suggest the percentage is lower. Other causes include wood-burning fires, fires on agricultural land, exhaust from diesel generators, dust from construction sites, and burning garbage. and illegal industrial activities in Delhi. The  Badarpur Thermal Power Station , a coal-fired power plant built in 1973, is another major source of air pollution in Delhi. Despite producing less than 8% of the city's electric power, it produces 80 to 90% of the  particulate matter  pollution from the electric power sector in Delhi. During the  Great smog of Delhi  in November 2017, the Badarpur Power Plant was temporarily shut down to alleviate the acute air pollution, but was allowed to restart on February 1, 2018. Although Delhi is kerosene free and 90% of the ...

Air Quality In Delhi

The air quality in Delhi, the capital of India, according to a WHO survey of 1600 world cities, is the worst of any major city in the world. Two other cities in India have worse air quality than Delhi: Gwalior in Madhya Pradesh, and Raipur in Chhattisgarh. Air pollution in India is estimated to kill 1.5 million people every year; it is the fifth largest killer in India. India has the world's highest death rate from chronic respiratory diseases and asthma, according to the WHO. In Delhi, poor quality air damages irreversibly the lungs of 2.2 million or 50 percent of all children. In November 2017, in an event known as the Great smog of Delhi, the air pollution spiked far beyond acceptable levels. Levels of PM2.5 and PM 10 particulate matter hit 999 micrograms per cubic meter, while the safe limits for those pollutants are 60 and 100 respectively. Air quality or ambient (outdoor) air pollution is represented by the annual mean concentration of particulate matter PM10...

Solar Power

Image
Hello everyone. i am here with my next blog. Today i will discuss the use of solar power energy and how our ruling party promise us light up atleast one bulb in every home by 2019. According to reports in bloomberg, India's new prime minister Narendra Modi plans to use solar power to bring electricity to the 400 million people who still lack access. In 2010,the former government launched the Jawaharlal Nehru National Solar Mission, which aims to provide 20,000 MW of grid connected solar power by 2022. The goal to provide every household with solar power by 2019 will require state level administrations to cooperate with the central government .  The solar generations potential is enormous, with the rooftops of 8500 stations, 125 hospitals, 600,000 residential quarters, schools to cover plus 44,000 hectares of vacant land and the verges along 66,690 km of track.

Climate Change Law

Good morning people, hope you all are doing well and i am again here with an interesting topic. From this blog you all will get to know about the climate laws and regulations implemented by the government. For the first climate policymakers have a clear idea of how countries around the world are attempting to control their greenhouse gas emissions. India is coordinating comprehensive policies across the economy covering both mitigation of greenhouse gas emissions and adaptions. There are the major climate laws in india: National action plan on climate change/2008 National electricity plan/2012 Post-copenhagen domestic actions/2010 Tariff policy/2006. India has a wide range of legislation relating to climate and energy in addition to those mentioned above.

War On Pollution

Image
Before i start this, we all know that the quality of air becomes severe. Between 2016 and now, delhi has inhaled the most toxic air in recorded history.Today, breathing the city's air is equivalent to smoking 50 cigarettes a day. Delhi now has become the model example of all other cities. Last year it becomes the most polluted city on earth, as air quality has reached epically bad proportions. Pollution surged so high that some monitoring stations reported an air quality index of 999 way above the upper limit of the worst category. The air borne particles and toxic chemicals that makeup the smog have choked the 19 million residents of the metropolitan area where merely breathing the air was, at its worst. Hospitals reported a 20 percent surge in patients with pollution related illnesses. Also there are so many effects of air pollution that can harm like irritation of eyes, nose and throat, low productivity, dizziness, and headaches. There are other severe illnesses like- ...
